Meditation is an ancient practice used to train the mind to observe with detachment and without judgement the thoughts that regularly flow in a stream-like fashion, without becoming identified with its content. Several practices and techniques exist to guide the mind to a more concentrated state and to induce transcendence. These can range from the repetition of a sound or mantra, some focuses on the visualization of an object, others directing focus onto one’s breathing. The effects of mediations helps to de-clutter the mind, improves relaxation, restore balance and focus and relieves stress-related ailments such as anxiety and high blood pressure just to mention a few.
